MISSION & PHILOSOPHY
The college admissions landscape has become a very stressful and overwhelming process for many students and parents. Many families narrow their college search to a small number of highly selective schools without thinking about whether the academic and social climate are even a good "fit" for their child. I work individually with each student to identify and prioritize their needs for the right "fit" college. I break the process down into manageable pieces and guide you through each step. The backbone of the college application process is creating a balanced college list of schools for each student including schools they are likely to be admitted to, target schools, and one or two dream or "reach" schools. I strongly support students in applying to their "reach" dream schools but not at the expense of a well researched list of likely and target schools where they would be happy to attend.

SUSAN BURKE, MSW
Susan Burke graduated from University of California Davis with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She went on to complete a Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of California. Susan has an extensive background in mental health, specializing in working with adolescents and their families. This background has served as an excellent foundation to provide the skills, understanding, support, and guidance in helping high school students and their families navigate through the challenging and sometimes overwhelming process of college admissions. In 2014, Susan completed the Professional Program in College Admission Counseling at University of California Berkeley Extension and founded Burke College Consulting. In addition, Susan has worked as an external Admissions Freshman Reviewer at the University of California Santa Cruz for the Fall 2016, 2017, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024 admissions cycles, giving her invaluable experience in college admissions from the college side. Susan has toured over 80 college campuses across the country since 2014. She annually attends numerous conferences including WACAC, HECA, and University of California and California State University Counselor Conferences in order to stay apprised on the college admissions ever changing landscape. Susan is based in Gilroy, California and works with both public and private high school students throughout Northern and Central California.
